Notes on travel to Bangladesh 1 (Immigration / Hotel / Exchange)

We will explain in detail about things you should be aware of when traveling to Bangladesh (immigration, hotel, currency, tip, currency exchange, etc.).

About entry

A visa is required to enter Bangladesh.

Fill in the immigration card that will be distributed on the passport and on board during immigration. A Bangladesh visa must be obtained in advance.

The Hotel

At hotels, hot water may not be available in large quantities as in Japan. There are also many hotels without bathtubs.Power outages frequently occur, and some luxury hotels have private generators. It is safe to have a flashlight for a power outage.

currency

The Bangladeshi currency is Taka (Taka. Unit is Tk), the auxiliary currency is Paisa (also called Poisha), and 1 Taka is 100 Pais.Coins are 5,10,25,50 Paisa and 1,2,5Tk. The banknotes are 1,2,5,10,20,50,100,500,1000Tk. Paisa's unit is not used much now.

About chip

There is a custom of tipping in Bangladesh. Tip (service charge) may be added at hotels and restaurants, so check the receipt. If not, give it in cash at the same time as the payment, or write a tip for a credit card. When carrying luggage to the room or asking for room service, it is customary to deliver about 20 Tk.

About exchange

Japanese yen and US dollar bills can be exchanged at Dhaka Airport, hotels and city exchange offices. In some areas, it may not be possible to exchange money from Japanese yen, so we recommend that you exchange money in urban areas as much as possible. When you exchange money and receive money, let's check not only the number but also the torn. Also, be sure to receive a foreign currency purchase certificate (receipt) when changing money.

Unused hawks can be exchanged back into US dollars at a bank at Dhaka Airport. Present the exchange certificate and check the amount in front of you when you give cash. However, since the rate of re-exchange from Taka is very bad, we recommend that you exchange money frequently.

About Traveler's Check (T / C)

Travelers check (T / C) and credit cards can be used at luxury hotels and restaurants with a lot of foreigners. Credit cards are generally visa cards and master cards, and there are few places where JCB can be used.
